iPad Quest Objectives
- Students will learn about immigrants, and the lives of immigrants during the late 19th and early 20th centuries in the United States.
- Students will gain an understanding of the issues faced by immigrants once living in the United States.
- Students will gain an understanding of the hopes and fears that Americans had of immigrants during the turn of the century, compare those hopes and fears to perspectives today.
- Students will understand the difference between push and pull factors that cause people to leave their home country.
- Students will understand the results of population growth in urban areas across the United States.
- Students will make a comparison between immigration in the late 19th century and immigration today.
- Students will learn about the meaning of naturalization, and the steps immigrants must take to become citizens in the United States.
- Students will become aware of reputable online and app-based resources available to them through The Library of Congress, The office of Immigration and Naturalization, Scholastic, Google Earth, the National Park Service, and more.
- Students will apply their learning with the creation of a 'show what you know' project, and by completing tasks throughout the course of the iPad Quest.
- Students will hone 21st Century Skills by working together as a team, giving and accepting feedback from peers, and learning new technology.
